SADER Jalisco Aids Ag Sector to Meet the Needs of a Sustainable Approach

With the signing of letters of commitment for 60.5 million pesos, SADER Jalisco finalized the agreements for the channeling of resources from the promotion schemes for 2021.

In a meeting with producers in the Regional Cattle Union of Jalisco, the Jalisco Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER,) signed the agreement benefitting 904 farmers in the field.

The head of the Secretariat's office, Salvador Álvarez García, stressed that this delivery of resources is part of a purse for 210.3 million pesos of the official programs that the agency labeled in direct support, unlike the drastic elimination of the federal treasury in agricultural support in the current administration.

Faced with reports from livestock and beekeeping producers affected by the agave, avocado, and berry crops in various regions of the entity, Álvarez García said that this issue is a reason for special attention for the regulation of the rural sector, "since it is inadmissible that hills are cut down and bees die off."

This in response to the statement of the Zapotiltic beekeeper, Antonio Rodríguez, who stated that for his union the problem of the death of bees is serious, because agricultural entrepreneurs do not use environmentally friendly agrochemicals.

Previously, the leader of the livestock union, Adalberto Velasco Antillón, had denounced that in several regions of the Jalisco countryside there is the problem of erosion of cattle-raising land due to the introduction of the agave, especially with the opening of lands with double furrows, which leaves a devastation of the soils.

Salvador Álvarez also highlighted that the management of resources has been transparent and SADER Jalisco remains available to receive complaints of any anomaly that may be registered in the processing of resources.

In this regard, a producer from Lagos de Moreno, José Gallardo, recalled his case a few years ago, when he requested support from an irrigation team and was rejected for having refused to pay a surcharge of 100,000 pesos. He explained that now the situation is very differnt.

A rancher in Tepatitlán, Rosa Elena Navarro Aceves, recognized the importance of support for the acquisition of a trailer that will allow her greater productivity at a time when there are higher demands due to increasing costs of production. She cited that she will seek better markets for her meat.

A poultry farmer from Capilla de Guadalupe, Concepción Alcalá, expressed that with the support of the secretariat for the acquisition of solar panel equipment, she expects better profitability from her farm, since at least 30% will be saved in the egg production of her farm by lowering electricity consumption.

Another beekeeper from the south of Jalisco, Israel Camacho Delgadillo, commented that the resources of the support received will allow him to install a honey extraction room, which will allow him to advance in the productivity of his exploitation and improve the commercialization in a moment in which the spaces of the flora typical of the bees have been reduced.

The support arranged in the Livestock Union included demands for improvement in the livestock industry, beekeeping, machinery, and renewable energy.
