SADER Jalisco Supports Dairy Cooperatives; Top Producers in the Country

Due to the positive results with their organized work of achieving better levels of efficiency and cost reduction, dairy cooperatives are groups that have been supported by SADER Jalisco.

This was expressed by the head of the office, Salvador Álvarez García, while highlighting the support of the present administration for nine organizations in Los Altos de Jalisco, with the channeling of 12,761,873 pesos from the treasury, which was met by the organizations.

The organizations supported were the Cooperativa San Pedro Esqueda, Prolea de Acatic, Cooperativa San Julio Álvarez, Cooperativa San Miguel Arcángel, Cooperativa Ganaderos de Pegueros, Engordadores de San José de Gracia, Porcicultores y Ganaderos de San Julián, Cooperativa de San Ignacio Cerro Gordo and the Union of Cooperatives Alteñas.

The support allocated had in common the facilitation of actions that increase the competitiveness of cooperative dairy activities, such as improving forage plants, improving laboratory facilities, expanding transport equipment, and various aspects of logistics in the unloading of supplies, accommodation of loading areas, and emptying of facilities, among other issues.

As an example, the leader of the Cooperativa Prolea de Acatic, Ramiro Ramírez González, commented that the support received was used for the acquisition of a Swedish patent skimming machine that has been very valuable in optimizing the fat content in cheeses, which avoids the waste of raw material and facilitates a more profitable process of these dairy derivatives.

The director of the San Pedro Esqueda Cooperative, Francisco Javier Muñoz, said that the support obtained allowed the installation of a modern laboratory that allows analyzing the quality of various products, especially milk intended for human consumption. It allows producers to make very timely decisions, such as when the residual presence of antibiotics is detected.

He argued that other products of great importance are also analyzed at the labratory, such as the quality of the grains and forages in the silos, which is relevant for dairy producers, since this laboratory is the most efficient among the organizations of the region.

The most recent official figures confirm Jalisco's leadership in the dairy herd. At the end of 2020, the inventory of cattle specialized in milk in the state field amounted to 386,000 head. The states that follow are Durango with 314,000, Chihuahua with 299,000, and Coahuila with 256,000. Such figures explain Jalisco's leadership in the country's milk supply.

The channeling of 25.5 million pesos to the Los Altos region is due to the fact that this demarcation concentrates most of the entity's milk production.
