Vallarta Municipal Government Readying to Provide School Supplies to Students

During a visit to this city by the Secretary of Education of Jalisco Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, acting mayor Jorge Quintero Alvarado announced the delivery of supplies, uniforms, and shoes coming in early August.

The government of Puerto Vallarta is preparing to return to face-to-face classes the next school year, and among the main actions is the delivery of supplies, uniforms and shoes for pre-school, primary, and secondary students of public schools in the municipality, through the program 'Recrea, Educating for Life.'

Likewise, the reinforcement of public safety in educational establishments for the safe return of students was announced on Tuesday by Alvarado, during the delivery of physical activation and choir kits to an elementary school.

The first mayor reported that through the Social Development department, the municipal government is ready to deliver supplies and backpacks to about 52,000 students, as well as uniforms and shoes. This expected in the first days of August, so that students already have all this at home and are prepared before they return to school.

“We want our boys, girls, and young people to have a good return to school, and we, together with the Secretary of Education of the state government, are prepared to deliver these supports to parents. In addition, we are going to establish a surveillance operation in the schools to guarantee the safety of the students when they return to the classrooms,” emphasized Alvarado.

The Secretary of Education, Juan Carlos Flores, highlighted the benefits of the ‘Recrea, Educating for Life’ program, in which the municipalities contribute 80% and the state 20% of the resources for these supports. The goal of the program is to promote equitable conditions, improve school performance, reduce the dropout rate, and combat social inequality. "Our goal is to provide students with a backpack, supplies, uniform and footwear pack," he said.
