DIF Vallarta and “Becas Padrino” Continue Supporting Young Students

DIF Vallarta and “Becas Padrino” Continue Supporting Young Students

More than 100 primary and secondary school youth received financial support to complete their studies, thanks to donations from their sponsors.

With the support of people with great hearts, the second delivery of this economic resource was made to boys, girls and young students of the 2020-2021 school year, so that they continue to prepare, through the "Becas Padrino" program, of the Puerto Vallarta DIF System.

The “Becas Padrino” program grants scholarships to low-income elementary and middle school students. Donors are referred to as godparents, and these godparents give scholarships to selected students each school year, providing financial support every two months, for 10 months, so that they can continue in school. The minors who are benefited with these scholarships agree to maintain a minimum school average of 8.5. DIF receives scholarship applications, and carries out socioeconomic studies to designate the scholarships. DIF is always looking for more “godparent” donors, if you would like to do so please contact their offices.

On this occasion, 115 elementary and secondary school students who belong to the list of beneficiaries were supported, giving 1,500 pesos each for the purchase of material, such as tools or footwear, so that they can continue studying with additional provided support to their household economy.

Each of the minors in the program gave thanks and a small gift to the “godparents” to create a bond with officials, businessmen, citizens, and especially the Alas de Águila Foundation, who continue to trust the DIF family and are committed to improving the education of the Vallarta childhood.

Rebeca Sánchez Cárdenas, mother of one of the minors benefited, thanked the godparents and the organization for their support. "I am glad that they worry about our children, because sometimes we have more than one studying and we do not have enough to buy the things that the teachers ask for. It is a support for them and for us as parents," she commented during the delivery of the resource.
