Mayor Alvarado Confirms Reinforcement of Health Measures in Vallarta

After a meeting Tuesday with government officials, interim mayor Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado confirmed preventive actions have been reinforced with increased inspections of sectors identified with the highest risk of contagion.

Asked by the media, the mayor of Vallarta explained that to reinforce health measures in commercial establishments, they are working directly with the business sector, with whom a coordination table was established to be held every Thursday. It will be meeting to follow up on the recommendations of the State Health Board and keep monitoring the actions.

He also indicated that they are working hard with operatives especially on weekends through the Directorate of Inspection and Regulations, so as not to lower their guard in commercial activities. Inspection visits will also be held during the week in clubs, bars, and restaurants.

Previously and on behalf of the municipalities present at this press conference, the interim mayor of Tlaquepaque, Betsabé Dolores Almaguer Esparza, announced some of the actions carried out in terms of inspection in each of these localities, highlighting that in the case of Puerto Vallarta, from Friday the 9th to Sunday the 11th of July, 3 closing warnings were made, 151 warnings for compliance with the protocols, and two closings.

In this framework, the Secretary of Health in the state, Fernando Petersen Aranguren, announced the increase in the incidence of cases and hospitalizations that have been registered in recent weeks. The most significant increase was between July 3 and 10 and the age group with the highest number of cases corresponds to 25 to 29 years old.

The state official also recalled that as announced last Monday by the state governor, a request was made to the federation so that it can start with the vaccination strategy in 10 municipalities most vulnerable to the influx of visitors, prioritizing five of these, including Puerto Vallarta, and is waiting for an answer.

Likewise, the coordinator of Economic Development, Alejandro Guzmán, indicated that so far it has not been decided to reduce capacity in commercial establishments, however the different sectors are analyzed to see where the highest transmission risks are. Likewise, he mentioned that monitoring is being maintained at the Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara airports, and with the start of the holidays, they will also be established at the bus terminals.
