Hospital Capacity Expanded for Covid Patients at PV Regional Hospital

Following the bed flexibility strategy established to deal with COVID-19, starting tomorrow the CDC Training Center in the Idipe neighborhood of Ixtapa will be enabled.

This in order to expand the capacity of the Puerto Vallarta Regional Hospital and be in a position to guarantee medical care for patients of Covid as well as other conditions. 12 more beds with oxygen concentrators will be added to allow current inventory of hospital availability to be used to continue treating other types of ailments.

Today, the work to equip the beds with their respective medical equipment will be completed and they will be ready to start receiving patients from tomorrow on. 

This unit will increase the number of available spaces by 12, to give a total of 52 beds for confirmed or suspected coronavirus patients in the coastal municipality. 

The authorization is carried out after the Regional Hospital reached 100% of the capacity of beds currently installed for the care of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients. 

At this time to provide medical care, air and land transfers are also carried out in coordination with the Emergency Medical Care System (SAMU) of Jalisco, the Metropolitan Area of ​​Guadalajara, Tomatlán, Mascota and other units of the OPD Jalisco Health Services , including San Juan de los Lagos and Lagos de Moreno. 

It is important to remember that a flexible strategy for the provision of beds is currently being used, which allows adjusting the hospital capacity according to the needs of the care of COVID-19 patients. 

The Director of the Jalisco Health Services, José de Jesús Méndez de Lira, and the Director of the Vallarta Regional Hospital, Guillermo Fuentes, attended the supervision of the deployment of beds at the CDC Training Center.
