Significant Flood Damage Along Rio Cuale; Vallarta Food Bank Steps In

The passing of “Nora” did not leave our town unscathed.

There has been significant damage caused in the downtown area by flooding of the Rio Cuale. The entire Rio Cuale shopping area has been completely inundated, and the north bridge and nearby apartment building have collapsed. A young boy remains missing.

Local authorities and community volunteers immediately stepped in to rescue and assist accident victims, and the cleaning up has already begun. Vallarta Food Bank has also jumped in to help, providing meals for victims and workers. Vallarta Food Bank started up about a year and a half ago to help people economically affected by the pandemic, and through your generous donations have come to serve about 500 people a day. And they could use some extra help at this time, however you can.

Message from Vallarta Food Bank:

Hey gang,

Vallarta is waking up to hurt and destruction this morning. Nora took a swing at us and landed some solid hits. Our hearts are hurting.

In the spirit of what started VFB... time to saddle up and help out where we can, however we can. We are collecting information right now... and in a couple hours we're going to toss open the doors and fire up the kitchen and do what we do best.

We need everything and anything you can spare:

Clothing

Home goods

Non perishable food items

Blankets

Underwear and socks

Bottled water

We could also use some help in the kitchen if anyone has the time and ability! We're gonna be cranking out hot food asap.
