Faced with the commitment to continue working for the benefit of vulnerable sectors, the Puerto Vallarta DIF System worked in direct service areas, benefiting thousands of citizens seeking quality services.

During their years of activities, around 100,000 services were provided through the Social Work area, among which the provision of pantries, diapers, powdered milk, medical consultations, medicines, support in surgical interventions, discounts on transportation, clothing, footwear, and other items that families in vulnerable situations require stand out, as well as channels to other areas to offer a comprehensive service and improve the quality of life of people in all aspects.

More than a million pesos benefited citizens who did not have access to the economic resource necessary for the services they required, such as food supplements, laboratory studies, medical supplies, funeral expenses, bus tickets, among others.

To raise awareness on the issue of violence and strengthen ties between family members, working from prevention and in coordination with the areas of Psychology and Social Work, the UAVIFAM offered nearly a thousand preventive talks in educational establishments, neighborhoods, and companies in the city; impacting people who attended and their families, as each one of those present became replicators of the acquired tools.

In addition, the rehabilitation and reopening of the Coexistence Center was achieved. This is a neutral, dignified, and decorous space where children and adolescents can coexist with their parents and/or relatives, for the prevention, protection, and improvement of relationships between parents and children who are separated by various legal processes. This space was made possible with the support of the Municipal Government, who also installed surveillance cameras and the metal detector device on loan for DIF, as well as people with great hearts who made their donations, from which they acquired a dining room, toys, an oven, microwave, and other items.

They also made home visits, counseling, and psychological, legal, and social work evaluation, as well as crisis intervention and transfers to safe places for women who requested support due to violence; granting more than 10,000 attentions such as follow-ups, accompaniments to the Justice Center for Women, crisis intervention, home visits, referrals, and others.

Likewise, with the objective of promoting the empowerment of women who experienced family violence, through 'Project 49.' 20 users were comprehensively benefited, receiving an economic incentive of 10,000 pesos each, and they participated in prevention talks on family violence in which they shared their testimony with other women.

Through the Office of the Attorney for the Protection of Girls, Boys and Adolescents, the restitution of the rights of infants and adolescents housed by the institution was achieved, as well as support with legal procedures for families from Vallarta.

In this area, DIF worked with the purpose of enforcing the laws focused on the rights of minors toward healthy development, to live as a family and in an environment free of violence. The goal is to allow for the improvement of their conditions and strengthen family and emotional ties.

In adherence to the new normal, DIF also brings tools to Vallarta through the online conference "Prevent, Detect and Stop Child Sexual Abuse", and the play "Hunch."

As in every rainy season, the DIF family worked in coordination with state and municipal authorities through the Program for Attention to the Population in Emergency Condition (APCE,) setting up temporary shelters in the face of hurricane "Nora," where they received people who lived in risk areas, being cared for with warmth and under the health and safety protocols. Two collection centers were also enabled where the support of companies, schools, associations, and civil society was demonstrated, with donations of basic necessities, bringing more than two tons of support to the victims.

During the months of November and December 2020, it was necessary to open collection centers in various parts of the city, to provide help to the families of the Jonuta municipality in Tabasco, who suffered heavy floods. With the support of collaborators, more than 5 tons of support donated by Vallarta residents and solidarity companies were delivered.

In conjunction with DIF Jalisco, food supplies were delivered to 3,172 people through project 145, "Assistance Support to Strengthen People in Conditions of High Vulnerability to Pandemic Risk Due to Covid-19,” from the 'Jalisco Sin Hambre' program.

Thanks to the donations that various companies have made in the past year, more than two tons of support have been given to associations helping needy residents with products such as fruits, vegetables, frozen meats, fish, ice cream, bread and other items.

During six years of work for the elderly, the Puerto Vallarta DIF System managed to increase support to this sector with comprehensive projects and programs, which allowed them to improve their quality of life through the axis "Seniors with values."

In the 'Casa de Día' program, more than 80,000 services were granted to people of the third age, to keep them active at this stage of their life, including beauty services of haircuts, manicures, pedicures, and dye; homeopathy, physical rehabilitation with the support of a chiropractor and students of the physical therapy and rehabilitation careers; singing, dancing and painting workshops, the soup kitchen, as well as activities that take place in the 31 groups of the elderly.

The "Jalisco Recognizes You" program was also provided, benefiting more than a thousand older adults in vulnerable situations each year with deliveries of pantries, winter kits, medical, nutritional, and psychological services, as well as prostheses, dental, footwear, and orthopedic devices such as wheelchairs, walkers and canes.

Likewise, the Comprehensive Care Center for the Elderly, is a senior residential facility that was remodeled in five stages, with an investment of more than 3 million pesos to improve the living room areas, corridors, bedrooms, infirmary, administrative offices and ambulance access. Currently there are 17 older adults being cared for with warmth and professionalism, providing 114,000 attentions over six years of nursing, including physical rehabilitation, psychological care, food service, among others.

With the collaboration of the municipal government, donors and volunteer ladies; the DIF Training Center is one of the outstanding works during the 2018-2021 period. With an investment of more than 5 million pesos, the property was completely remodeled, creating a practically new space with decent, spacious, and functional facilities for each of the workshops and courses offered there.

One of the programs that promotes personal and professional growth of people is the Community Development Project. Through the teaching of some trade or activity, people can learn how to contribute to the economy of their homes. In coordination with DIF Jalisco, a resource for the amount of 500 thousand pesos is allocated to benefit women and men from the communities of El Cantón, El Ranchito, El Zancudo and Rancho Nácar. Currently there are 100 members who take the sewing and bakery workshops, of the more than 30,000 attentions in six years through the classes.

Through the Padrino Scholarship program, the children and youth of Vallarta were supported at the hand of people who join as godparents. With donations of 300,000 pesos a year, it has allowed to help 100 boys and girls continue with their basic level studies with semester scholarships.

In the Child Development Assistance Centers (CADI's,) with the help of professionals, work is done so that each child has quality comprehensive educational development, promoting their creativity and independence in their first years of life. With six centers children received in the last year around 7,200 meals, and psychology, social work, nutrition services, pedagogy, and medical care. In addition, two virtual classrooms in the CADIs of the Centro and La Aurora areas were installed, equipped with computers, tables, chairs and desks.

In order to continue working for an inclusive society, the Coordination of Indigenous Groups gave special attention to people who belong to an indigenous community or people and who find themselves in unequal opportunities.

In the past six years, nearly 12,000 services were provided to indigenous families, supporting them with advice and accompaniment on legal matters, food support, funeral services and expenses, and transfers to hospitals and place of origin. They also received comprehensive monitoring with services such as psychology, referrals to other entities, information on their rights, as well as talks in schools and companies, and with activities during the week of indigenous peoples so that more people could learn about the culture, traditions and crafts of each ethnic group.
