Puerto Vallarta to Allocate FOEDEN Funds to 100 Families for Hurricane Damage

The Puerto Vallarta City Council approved the allocation and distribution of resources in the amount of 455,660 pesos, as contribution to the State Fund for Natural Disasters (FOEDEN.)

In total, 2,278,000 pesos will be allocated for the recovery of household items lost by families affected by the passage of hurricane "Nora" in this city.

Interim mayor Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado explained that the municipality is contributing 20% of the total of these resources, while 80% corresponds to the state government contributions.

He indicated that this is one of the first supports that the state government will be granting through FOEDEN, to people who lost part of their belongings during this natural contingency.

He added that these resources will be delivered over the course of the this week to the families of the nearly 100 homes that were affected by losing their household items such as beds, mattresses, electrical appliances, stoves, refrigerators, among other things.

Alvarado pointed out that one of the rights enshrined in the federal Constitution is that "every family must enjoy a dignified and decent home, including household items." Therefore the state government grants through this fund support for these families.

The mayor reported that support is still pending for the tenants of the Río Cuale Municipal Market, who also lost items and products. Some merchants have already been allowed to return to part of the property, while others work temporarily in Hidalgo park. The repairs and reinforcement of the damaged structure of the building are being carried out.
