Vallartans Receive Support from FOEDEN for Hurricane Damages

Financial resources were given to a total of 248 families and merchants from Vallarta who lost household items and merchandise due to storm damage.

To fulfill the commitment to support families and merchants who were affected by the passage of hurricane "Nora" in this city, this Wednesday the acting mayor Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado, together with the Secretary General of the Government of the state of Jalisco, Enrique Ibarra Pedroza, delivered resources from the State Fund Trust for the Attention of Natural Disasters (FOEDEN) to 248 people who lost household items and merchandise.

The first mayor pointed out that from the first moment of the passage of Hurricane “Nora,” the state government, through the secretary general, Enrique Ibarra, was aware of the damage that was occurring throughout the state, and the danger that some communities were particularly prone to.

In that sense, he thanked the state government for the prompt response so that today, merchants and families who were affected by the passage of "Nora," receive financial support. He then assured them that in regard to damaged infrastructure they will also be rehabilitated with the support from the state and municipal government.

The Mayor went on to inform that a total of 248 families received financial support, highlighting that it is money collected from different taxes that are had in the entity.

He stated that this year has been characterized by the increase in rains, which has affected 34 municipalities so far, plus another 9 municipalities that have also been affected by the hurricane, so the indication of Governor Enrique Alfaro has been to promptly assist and support with compensation for material damages.

Verónica Magdalena Jiménez Vázquez, general director of management of the government of the state of Jalisco, announced that 179 checks were delivered to the owners of affected businesses, for a total amount of 6,449,000 thousand pesos from the state government, and thanked the municipal government for the support given, an administration that has distinguished itself for its sensitivity, for its prompt response, and for the way it is organized.

María del Carmen Bayardo Solórzano, substitute president of FOEDEN, reported that of the 70 homes registered, 69 were affected in the matter of household goods, and that they received their financial support. In total 2,278,000 thousand pesos is being delivered, of which 445,000 pesos correspond to the municipal contribution, the equivalent of 20% of the total.

She specified that the above is the result of coordinated and timely work on the part of the state and municipal government, as well as all those who were benefited with the delivery of these support.
