Government Working with UDG Makes Jalisco Successful National Example

The medical, scientific and logistical work of the University of Guadalajara were bases in the decision-making implemented in Jalisco to save lives and obtain positive results in the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This has also resulted in the advancement of vaccination and economic reactivation strategies in the entity, stated the Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, during the report of activities of the rector of the House of Studies, Ricardo Villanueva Lomelí.

At the event, the state president reiterated that the sum of the efforts of the university community with the state government contributed to setting the entity as a national example.

"I do not think there has been a governor and rector who have met as many times as we have in the last year and a half due to the pandemic, there is a close relationship and respect. To say thank you very much to the University of Guadalajara for everything you did, and the truth is that when we see the results, I think we can feel reassured that in Jalisco we did the right thing, which allowed us to get ahead much faster than the rest of the country. "Said the Governor.

Alfaro Ramírez reiterated his commitment to openness and dialogue with the UdeG to continue working on issues that interest Jalisco, among them, the discussion of the fiscal pact, in which he asked the university to join in defending the interests of Jalisco.

“The Government and the University are on the same route, we defend the same, and we want Jalisco to do well. For this reason, in the times that are to come, at a time when a very important discussion about the future of the fiscal pact in Mexico is going to begin, I believe that the university is called to play a leading role in this discussion,”said the leader.

Rector Villanueva Lomelí recognized the Governor's sensitivity to listen to the scientific and medical voices for decision-making that were agreed at the beginning of the pandemic. This action helped to contain the cases of coronavirus in the entity with the support of the RADAR rapid test program, making Jalisco a national example in detection and epidemiology.

"Governor, thank you for your high social commitment to face the pandemic, with solutions based on scientific vigor and not with magical-religious proposals," praised Lomelí.

The rector also recognized the determination of the president so that, in the midst of the pandemic, one hundred percent of applicants could be admitted to the upper secondary education system.
