Jalisco Talent Land Program Grants Over 50,000 Scholarships

Through the Jalisco Talent Land Program, 50,000 students of secondary and higher education of the entity, and more than 700 entrepreneurs, received scholarships.

With a participation of more than three million talents connected from about 20 countries, the first 100% virtual edition of Jalisco Talent Land Digital 2021 managed to position the entity as a pole of international innovation and promoted local talent, said the Secretary of Innovation, Science, and Technology (SICyT,) Alfonso Pompa Padilla.

“This year's version has been truly spectacular, in the number of participants from both the state of Jalisco, Mexico, and the world. It is the great fair for innovators, creators, entrepreneurs, and technology experts who come to share their projects, their knowledge, their ideas, and of course their ideals and dreams,” commented the head of the SICyT.

Through scholarships granted by various mechanisms, 50,000 high school and higher education students from Jalisco were attended, who had the opportunity to enter more than 500 hours of content distributed in 11 thematic channels.

With the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Open Innovation Platform (PLAi) and Talent Land, the content from 25 speakers who participated in this edition will be uploaded to become part of the “Learn” section of this platform, which contains courses and educational content on thematic axes of: Information Technologies, Industry 4.0, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Creative Industries, and Soft Skills.

Regarding the more than 700 scholarships to entrepreneurs that the SICyT granted to participate in Jalisco Talent Land Digital, Pompa Padilla explained that they will be followed up to see how to promote their projects through the Network of Innovation Centers (REDi), which is made up of physical and virtual spaces where there are entrepreneurship programs, innovation events, suitable spaces for coworking, and other services.

He recalled that there are currently three REDi offices operating, one in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, another in Ocotlán and one more in Zapotlán el Grande, but that six more offices are expected to join in the coming months.

Finally, the Secretary of Innovation highlighted that the virtual modality of Talent Land is here to stay, and that they anticipate that the next edition of this event will take place in a hybrid way: digital and face-to-face.
