Woman Charged in Weapons Seizure Collaborated by SSE and ATF

A woman has been sentenced for the purchase of high powered weapons, including three heavy caliber machine guns which were seized from a warehouse in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga in April of 2020.

The seizure of large-caliber weapons carried out by personnel of the State Security Secretariat in a warehouse in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, as well as collaboration with the United States ATF, allowed the capture and sentence of the arms trafficker.

On April 19, 2020, after a persecution and confrontation with armed subjects, State Police officers seized a warehouse where they found double-bottomed semi trailers, motorcycles, and luxury cars, as well as 14 firearms, including three Model M249 machine guns for military use valued at up to $ 8,000 USD each.

On that occasion, one of the subjects who managed to escape the confrontation with state police officers was later killed in a shootout and, based on investigations, was linked to a criminal group.

In addition, it is presumed that the double-bottomed trailers were used for the transfer of illegal weapons.

Through collaboration between the SSE and the Agency for Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (ATF,) information was obtained that allowed the binding arrest and sentence of Norma Llamas Rodríguez, 47, who along with her 21-year-old son Carlos Arturo García bought 49 high-powered weapons, including the three machine guns secured by state police in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga.

Llamas Rodríguez was sentenced to 52 months in prison, while a United States court will later issue the sentence for her son.

The collaboration of the Secretary of State Security with authorities from other countries allows the exchange of information and investigations to kill crimes that affect both nations.
