Searching for Stolen Baby from Western General Hospital in Guadalajara

The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office began an investigation folder for the theft of a newborn from the General Hospital of the West, in events that occurred this Wednesday night, in order to locate the minor, as well as to find those responsible.

The events occurred after 6:00 p.m. when a woman dressed in a surgical suit posing as medical personnel asked the mother to hand it over to her to perform a medical procedure, and then she fled with the newborn. The hospital staff soon realized the absence of the baby, and activated the Red Code to restrict all departures and income to this hospital unit, conducted a perimeter review, and while inspections continued by security and operational personnel inside, made the report to the authorities of the Zapopan Security Police Station, who then requested command and guidance from the agent of the Public Ministry. The hospital immediately gave up the files of the closed circuit surveillance cameras to the authorities for further clarification of this unfortunate fact.

Hospital CEO Dr. Alejandro Barajas reiterated full support to help the necessary inquiries and reported that at the same time an internal investigation is underway to break responsibility.

According to the first data obtained, the woman entered through the personnel area, and later walked out with the minor through that same door.

Additionally, personnel from different areas of the State Agency implemented operations in various areas of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, in order to carry out various investigative acts, giving priority to finding the location of the infant so that it can be returned to its relatives.

Collaborations were immediately sent to all entities in the country, as well as operations being implemented in the different Bus Stations in the city and in the Guadalajara International Airport in order to prevent the woman and baby from leaving the city.

Amber Alert activated the corresponding file with photographs of both the girl and the alleged perpetrator.

The State Prosecutor's Office also maintains permanent contact with various state and municipal authorities in both the health and security sectors in order to assist with investigations as well as in the search efforts.

At the moment a photograph has been issued of the woman who allegedly took the baby, so the support of the public is requested so that if they recognize her, can give information that can lead to their location, or have any information about  the sudden appearance of a newborn baby, they can contact the emergency number 911 or complaint 089.

As the investigations progresses, society will be informed through official channels.
