Governor Alfaro Delivers More that 33 Million Pesos to Civil Organizations

Governor Enrique Alfaro delivered this Tuesday more than 33 million pesos from the support program for Civil Society Organizations, which will be allocated to meet urgent or unforeseen health needs.

The Governor informs that another 60 million pesos of support will be budgeted to CSOs next year.

“In Jalisco we are going to agree and we are going to make a model that allows us to establish clear rules, access the resources and mechanisms that you yourself supervise so that the processes that are followed to support Civil Society Organizations are clear and transparent. For now I want to tell you, independent of the other important agendas that exist for the state, it is my commitment today that in the budget proposal that we are going to send to the Jalisco Congress, at least 60 million pesos will come for the Civil Society Organizations next year,” he assured.

To date, 58 CSOs have benefited by assigning them the resources they requested to carry out projects aimed at development and/or social assistance (co-investment modality) for the benefit of their population served, and which was approved by the Technical Committee for Assignment of Social Assistance Subsidies.

Alberto Esquer Gutiérrez, Secretary of Social System Assistance (SSAS), highlighted the delivery of these resources as a symbol of the confidence that the Government of Jalisco has towards Civil Society Organizations, which are present in difficult times such as the one currently experienced after the impact of Hurricane “Nora” on the coasts of the State, where unity, cooperation, and community building are required.

"Despite difficult times, the Secretariat of the Social Assistance System has higher budgets than other periods," he said.

Of the 40 million pesos available for this year, 33,051,850 pesos have been assigned, distributed as follows:

15 million 214 thousand 100 pesos for the purchase of cancer drugs through 9 CSOs

14 million 200 thousand pesos for joint investment projects of 28 CSOs

3 million 637 thousand 750 pesos for contingent support to 21 CSOs.

There are still resources available pending to be allocated:

5,148,150 pesos of contingent support is still available until September 30, the date the call closes.

In addition, the collaboration agreement was signed between SSAS and El Colegio de Notarios de Jalisco, so that duly constituted organizations that are channeled by the Undersecretariat for Development and Liaison with CSOs can access the authorized benefit of a 30% reduction in the cost for notarial services that are necessary for the development of their assistance activities.

Secretary Gutiérrez made a special recognition to the College of Notaries of the State of Jalisco, headed by its President, Fernando Agustín Gallo Téllez, for the support offered to CSOs. "After much work we have managed to classify in regulations, in law, an important discount for the constitutive acts of Civil Society Organizations and their modifications, which is also reflected in help to the organizations," he explained.

On behalf of the CSOs benefited, Jorge Cazares López, director of Juntos Cambiando Vidas AC., Thanked the joint work represented by these supporters.

“Today I want my voice to serve to convey to you, Mr. Governor and your entire government team, a sincere gratitude, not only on behalf of Juntos Cambiando Vidas and all the associations that benefit from the support program for the Organizations of the Civil Society, but also on the part of each one of the families that could also be and have been supported thanks to the different calls published during this year,” he said.
