The supervision tours of the state infrastructure affected by Hurricane Nora continue in more than a dozen municipalities.
Bridges, highways, schools and roads are evaluated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP) to quantify the costs of their reconstruction and start as soon as possible the executive projects for their repair or reconstruction.
Simultaneously, SIOP will continue to prepare an inventory of damages suffered by dozens of schools in Jalisco that, as happened in three schools in Tomatlán, suffered damage to roofs, perimeter fences, and drains. The main objective of these and the following supervision tours is to have as soon as possible a complete report of damages caused by Nora that allows the state to act accordingly and access the necessary resources.
In Santa María del Oro, in the section of state highway 409 that connects said municipality with that of Valle de Juárez, the liberation and cleaning works have already begun to rebuild it, redo embankments, and leave its asphalt folder, signage, gutters, and other perfectly safe elements.
There, three bridges were also supervised: the one on the Camino a La Aurora, the one that goes to San Juan de la Montaña and the pedestrian Venustiano Carranza, whose structures were compromised and represent a risk to the population.
In all three cases, work will be carried out from its foundations and, for example, La Aurora will be rebuilt with concrete floors and gabion wall base, works to which are added the repair of the Camino al Tepeguaje and the Bypass of Santa María of gold.
In the case of Atenguillo, Nora collapsed the nearly 30-meter vehicular bridge connecting the community of Las Cebollas, which will be replaced, while SIOP is carrying out the construction project of a new 35m vehicular bridge for the town of El Rodeo, two works that will meet all quality standards so that residents can safely cross the Atenguillo River.
In Mascota it is necessary to repair the bridge in the town of San Rafael, which allows thousands of people who travel the Ruta del Peregrino to pass over the body of water of the same name.
The atypical rains of Nora caused a sinkhole that took 25 meters at km 90 of the state highway 428 El Grullo-Ciudad Guzmán. Thursday afternoon a provisional passage for light vehicles was opened, this at the same time that reconstruction work on the section began by filling the hole with bench materials to reopen the completely repaired road in approximately six weeks.
The Government of Jalisco has sent to the Federal Government the request for a Declaration of Emergency in 18 municipalities of the entity, since the rescue of their infrastructure is a priority. The preliminary figure of quantified damages amounts to 350 million pesos, which exceeds the response capacity of the local authorities. At this time, the state government is making the necessary adjustments in its budget to serve the affected municipalities.
The municipalities included in the application are:
Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Corrientes, Tomatlán, Cihuatlán, La Huerta, Autlán, Casimiro Castillo, El Grullo, Talpa, Cuautitlán de García Barragán, Mascota, San Gabriel, Teocuitatlán, Santa María del Oro, Atoyac, Atenguillo, Villa Purificación and Mixtlán.
