Enrique Alfaro Recognizes Outstanding Young People with Jalisco 2021 Youth Award

The recognition this year consists of the delivery of a certificate, as well as an amount of 45,000 pesos for each winner.

The Governor of the State of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, granted this Friday the State Prize for Youth Jalisco 2021 to seven outstanding Jalisco citizens in the humanistic, cultural, civic, labor, scientific, academic, and sports fields, whom he urged to take responsibility that this distinction entails at a time when we must fight for the agendas of inclusion, respect for diversity, indigenous peoples, and a serious commitment to the environment.

“These kinds of agendas have been championed by young people and they have done very well. They have shaken the collective conscience with their work, and with their effort. Social movements that have emerged from the new generations of Mexicans have transformed the way we understand the world and the way we influence the future of Mexico from the public,” said the Governor.

He indicated that these young people who today become a reference for their generations are changing the reality of Jalisco, and with it, that the entity is sustained as the engine of the transformation of Mexico.

“Whoever receives the State Youth Award must assume himself as an example for his entire generation and must understand that the moment we live in does not allow indifference, does not allow negligence, does not allow apathy that has unfortunately been gaining ground in the new generations of Jalisco, of Mexicans, and in general. It has become a problem on a global scale," said Alfaro Ramírez.

The director of Youth of the Undersecretary of Human Rights, Keila Juárez, recognized the work of those present, who with their young age and long career exalt give priority to the agendas of Jalisco, such as education, science, culture, economy and politics.

It was the Consultative Council for the Granting of Awards of the State of Jalisco who selected the winners. This recognition is given year after year, and is carried out in order to recognize and stimulate the young people of Jalisco who are distinguished in a relevant way by their acts, works, projects, or by having an exemplary trajectory in favor of the state, the country, or of humanity in the different areas, and they are considered an example for the Jalisco youth and society.

In the voice of the outstanding young people on this day, Rodolfo Alejandro Pila, the Tonalteca and winner in the cultural field, highlighted the importance of including the indigenous community today, since it is a representation of the resistance that this culture undertakes in the fight to become visible despite the segregation that for years has kept them in social and labor discrimination.
