The world's leading company in Premium spirits, including tequila, will invest in expanding its production center in Los Altos and building a new one in La Barca.
The Governor of the State, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, and executives of the company DIAGEO, announced this Thursday new investments in Jalisco for more than 500 million dollars to expand its production center located in the municipality of Atotonilco El Alto, and to build a new one in La Barca, which will generate more than a thousand direct jobs for Jalisco.
In this regard, the Jalisco president affirmed that in addition to the economic and promotional benefits that the growth projects of the British company will bring to the entity, there is a relationship of trust and a work agenda that has been strengthened from the Government's economic agenda of Jalisco and commercial allies to the world such as the United Kingdom.
“It is not only 500 million dollars of investment that are being put on the table today, but the trust of a group as important globally as DIAGEO in Jalisco and Mexico. That is worth a lot because we have been coming out of a difficult moment. We have all been working to create conditions that allow us to reactivate economic activity, that allow us to give certainty to investment, to recover lost jobs, and to have a booming economy again,” said Alfaro Ramírez.
Álvaro Cárdenas, President of Diageo for Latin America and the Caribbean, affirmed that the company is committed to Mexico to satisfy, through sustainable processes with the environment and special facilities, the local and international demand for quality tequila, which will soon have a certification that will make it a 100% deforestation-free product.
“We want to announce the commitment we have for Mexico, the love we have for Tequila, the commitment we have with the communities where we operate, the love we have for taking a little piece of Mexico to the whole world, and the emotion it gives today to see bottles of Tequila from a brand as beautiful as Don Julio in Restaurants in Asia, Europe, Africa, the United States, and that is only due to the magic of this land,” said the manager.
The President of Diageo added that the growth of the company in Jalisco will begin this year.
The United Kingdom's Ambassador to Mexico, Jon Benjamin, recognized the importance of British investment in the country, particularly in Jalisco, since there is a relationship of friendship and cooperation on different issues that generate important benefits for the inhabitants of both nations.
"The United Kingdom-Jalisco agenda is very broad on many issues such as climate change, but especially in trade relations Jalisco is a fundamental part of our relationship between the two countries, being one of the most diversified states in its economic activity", emphasized the diplomat.
Finally, the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economy, Luz María de la Mora Sánchez, said that the investment made today in Jalisco is also a sign of how attractive Mexico is for foreign companies and the raising of capital around the world, as well as a product of the work that the federation follows for a sustainable economic growth.
