Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra’s Season of Live Concerts Includes Online Broadcasts

The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) in its return to live, face-to-face concerts, has prepared a season of select works with music by great universal, Mexican, and Jalisco composers.

They will adorn the Degollado Theater in Guadalajara, a venue that will open its doors with the help of this group after more than a year of closure due to the pandemic.

The inaugural program of this Second Season 2021 begins on Thursday, June 17 at 8:30 p.m.. with an inaugural concert under the baton of the titular conductor, Jesús Medina. The presentations will be on Thursday nights and Sundays at noon.

Tickets are already available in the Master Ticket system and at the Degollado Theater box office, with an offering of 300 spaces between which the distance recommended by the Health Board will be respected.

Likewise, the venue will have all the necessary protocols to safeguard the health of the attendees, who are asked to respect the recommendations of distance, use of antibacterial gel, and the proper wearing of face masks at all times.

Whoever acquires their ticket is asked to arrive 30 minutes before the concert starts, because due to the sanitary protocols for access it will take a few minutes to be seated, which requires the patience of everyone. Once the event has started, public access will not be allowed.

The details of all the live concerts of this new season, and other activities of the orchestra, can be consulted on the social networks of the OFJ and on their website.

The program begins with “The Marriage of Figaro,” one of the most outstanding operas in the standard operatic repertoire, and considered one of the best creations of Mozart and one of the most important operas in the history of music.

Also included is “Symphony 104,” better known as “London.” It is the last of the twelve symphonies that Haydn composed inspired by his second tour of London. It was released under his direction on May 4, 1795.

The program concludes with the “Eighth Symphony,” the most Viennese of all Beethoven's symphonies, showing the verve of Mozart and Haydn. Beethoven himself directed its premiere on February 27, 1814.
