The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra Prepares Closing Concert

The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra Prepares Closing Concert
Music Hits: 1157

After more than a year of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this week brings the end of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra’s second in-person season of the year at the Degollado Theater.

This evening, July 15, and Sunday July 18, the OFJ's interpretation of a symphonic piano poem will be played: Danza Bohemia (in French, Danse Bohémienne,) one of the first works by Claude Debussy, written in 1880. Its major attractiveness lies in its rhythmic aspects.

You may also enjoy La Sinfonietta, a light melody full of dance rhythms, composed by Francis Pulenc in 1947. Sinfonietta is his only work for orchestra, and it is the closest that Poulenc came to writing a symphony. The music is full of his wit and deserves to be heard more often in concert halls.

In addition, The Lilting Orchestral Syrup by composer Eduardo Gamboa, a composer who has received awards and distinctions, such as the Ariel from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Jesús Medina directs this last season program, closing with the Mexican Suite by the Puebla composer Eduardo Angulo. A melody steeped in the Mexican folk spirit that earned the composer international recognition.

The second season of OFJ takes place from Thursday, June 7 to Sunday, July 18, Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets range from 90 to 250 pesos. And with discounts of 30% to students, teachers, people with some type of disability and the elderly, valid only at the Degollado Theater box office.

The public is asked to arrive 30 minutes before the concert starts because due to the sanitary protocols for access it will take a few minutes, which requires the patience of all people. Once the event has started, public access will not be allowed.

Enjoy the transmission of these concerts for free on Jalisco TV every Sunday at 12:00.
