Coffe with a Friend at Estación Café

Coffe with a Friend at Estación Café

Yesterday I went to Estación Café with my friend, Ivan.

Hello, again. My dad and I, and sometimes my mom comes along too, have been going out on the town to find some of the best not so well known cheap eats, mostly family-owned, restaurants that we can find. We go out almost every day, finding some new little place, or big place, to tell you about and review the food and prices.

One of my favorite coffee shops to go to is Estación Café, and there are many reasons. First of all, the drinks and meals are always super yummy. Second, it’s right in the middle of the Santa Maria tianguis, so it’s a perfect place to visit on Saturdays. And third, the atmosphere of the place is very pleasant and welcoming so it’s a great place to go to alone or with friends. And yesterday, since it was Saturday, I went with my friend, Ivan. He goes there a lot more than I do, and he really likes the place, so he even wrote his own article! You can click here to read it, though he doesn’t speak any English and therefore the article is in Spanish.

Estación Café, as I said before, has a very pleasant atmosphere, and one of the biggest contributors to this is probably that the staff, who are all related, are always in a good mood and engaging in conversation with their customers. It’s very obvious that they love their job, so when I talked to one of the baristas later on, I wasn’t surprised when she told me so. Actually, they don’t only love their job, but they have a passion for coffee and drinks, which is why they decided to open a café together! One of the employees, Thaira, worked as a barista someplace else before Estación Café, so she was able to teach her family what she knew.  So with passion driving them and the skill to do so, they were able to open up a lovely café where everyone is welcomed in with open arms, including our furry friends.

Now, more about the drinks and food! They have a variety of different smoothies, frappes, hot drinks, cold drinks, desserts and pastries, and a few savory food items. They also sometimes add a drink to their menu inspired by the season we’re in or an upcoming holiday. For example, they’ve released two drinks this season; one based on Autumn and one based on Halloween. The Autumn drink is Pumpkin Spice, which can be frapped, iced, or hot, and the Halloween drink is the Frappestein, which is a chocolate-mint-flavored frappe. They currently have a promotion that is 2 Frappesteins for $130 pesos, but you can also switch out one of the Frappesteins for the other seasonal drink, Pumpkin Spice. But be quick! The promotion ends after Halloween, which is tomorrow!!

Ivan wasn’t really hungry, so he only got a Frappestein, but I got a Pumpkin Spice frappe and a bagel, which came with cream cheese and strawberry jam in separate containers on the side. Ivan said that his drink wasn’t the best he’s had from here, but it was still pretty good. The drink had some mint-flavored popping pearls, which were good on their own, but didn’t blend well with the rest of the drink. On the other hand, my frappe was delicious and perfectly put together! The coffee flavor wasn’t overpowering, and neither was the pumpkin spice! It was literally perfect! My bagel was also really good. It was a simple bagel, so there’s not much I can say about it, but I really enjoyed it.
