Almost 25,000 People Aged 50-59 Vaccinated in Coastal and Southern Jalisco

Almost 25,000 People Aged 50-59 Vaccinated in Coastal and Southern Jalisco

In three regions, there are already about 700 pregnant women protected with their first dose of the biological, tomorrow another 41 municipalities will be vaccinating.

Immunization against COVID-19 in Jalisco continues to advance in different regions. On its fourth day for the block of 50 to 59 years of age in the regions of Tamazula, Ciudad Guzmán, and Puerto Vallarta, almost 25,000 doses have been applied of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which represents 51.4 percent of the 47,960 doses assigned in this phase.

One of the priority groups for Jalisco in the care of the pandemic are pregnant women. On this day there are 695 women in the pregnancy stage who have come to be vaccinated with the first dose of Sinovac in these three regions, with Puerto Vallarta at the headquarters on Naval Hospital, where 426 future mothers have already started their protection scheme. Vaccinations will continue this Monday and, in parallel, the vaccination against COVID-19 will start in another 41 municipalities for people 50-59 years old, and pregnant women over 18 years of age with more than 9 weeks of gestation.

Given the concern of people over 60 years in the municipality of Zapopan, pending to receive their second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) reiterates that the AstraZeneca Clinical Guidelines mark a period of 8 to 12 weeks for the application of the second dose; of which they are still within  and must wait. Once the vaccine has been assigned and authorized, they will be informed of the date and vaccination points.

Vaccines are safe and effective in preventing serious complications from this disease. It is important to remember that immunity against the coronavirus is reached, starting 15 days after the application of the second dose (or only dose in the case of single-dose vaccines.) Even vaccinated people can catch and spread the coronavirus, therefore prevention measures must be maintained.

The pandemic is still active and therefore the entire population must wear face masks properly (this simple measure can reduce the risk of contagion by up to 90%,) stay only for a short time in public spaces, maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between people, and wash their faces frequently with soap and water or use 70% alcohol gel.

If symptoms such as a persistent cough, respiratory distress, a fever that does not subside, or blood oxygenation drops below 92, you should go to an emergency unit and not wait for a confirmatory COVID-19 test.

Since March 14, 2020 - the day the first two patients were notified in Jalisco - to date there have been 249,282 confirmed cases in the entity, detected thanks to the RADAR System; as well as a total of 12,044 confirmed deaths from the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.
