Over One Million Covid Tests Applied in Jalisco

Over One Million Covid Tests Applied in Jalisco

The State of Jalisco has already exceeded one million tests applied to detect COVID-19 (1,009,003 as of June 1,) a figure that places us in the second national place with the most tests carried out.

This thanks to the RADAR System, which includes a network of authorized laboratories in search of suspected new cases of the coronavirus.

In the last week, only three out of every hundred tests applied were positive, one of the indicators that allows us to measure the impact of the pandemic, which is still active but stable and with a downward trend. In parallel, vaccination to protect against complications and risk of death is advancing in the state of Jalisco.

In three days of progress of this campaign, there are already 43,464 people who have received the biological, under the Jalisco vaccination model, which among other things allows the use of an appointment system to go to a specific date and time without need of queuing for hours.

In the macromodule installed in the Benito Juárez auditorium, 15,300 vaccines were applied yesterday to people between 50 and 59 years old, residents of the municipalities of Tlajomulco, El Salto, Tonalá and Tlaquepaque; as well as pregnant women and lagging older adults who received their first dose from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNTech.

While in 44 other municipalities (of ten health regions of the state,) almost 19,000 people were immunized; 16,791 from 50 to 59 years, 1,217 lagging older adults, and 540 pregnant women. The campaign ends tody in most of these territories and on June 4 in some municipalities.

This is how immunization progresses in the state of Jalisco, but it is reiterated to the population that the contingency for COVID-19 has not ended, and therefore preventive measures must be maintained, even when vaccinated. Use masks properly (this simple measure can reduce up to 90 percent risk of contagion,) stay ony for a short time in public spaces, maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between people, and wash hands frequently with soap and water or use 70% alcohol-based gel.

If symptoms such as a persistent cough, respiratory distress, a fever that does not subside or blood oxygenation decrease to less than 92 occur, you should go to an emergency unit and not wait for a confirmatory test of COVID-19.

Since March 14, 2020, the day the first two patients were notified in Jalisco, to date there have been 250,467 confirmed cases in the entity, detected thanks to the RADAR System; as well as a total of 12,327 deaths confirmed by the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.
