A Drive-Thru Covid-19 testing facility recently opened here in Puerto Vallarta. It is operated by the company Mediclar Lab, and they intend to remain here until a negative Covid test result is no longer required for air travel.
They are conveniently located on the corner of Avenida Francisco Medina Ascencio and Avenida Fluvial Vallarta, in the big lot that is often used for fairgrounds, across from the Grand Venetian.
To get the test first you must fill out a form giving your name and contact information, and pay the fee of 650 pesos, or a little less than 33 dollars. No appointment is needed for the test, so you can just drive in.
The test is a Rapid Antigen Test using a cotton nasal swab. It takes about 15 minutes to complete the test, and after it is done you may leave and will receive the results in probably about 40 minutes, possibly up to an hour, through the email you gave them in the form. Though, if it is an emergency such as for a plane ride then they will try to get it to you faster. If you don’t see your e-mail within the time frame, make sure to check your spam folder, because there is always a possibility that the email will land there. If you have checked all folders and still have not received your email, you can call them and they will find your results and resend them.
Before you rely on any test to fulfill the airline requirements of your next trip, check with the airline first in conjunction with the place you are visiting to make sure the Antigen test is accepted. If you are traveling to Canada, for example, the Rapid Antigen Test results won’t be accepted. They are accepted if you are going to the United States.
If you have made previous plans for any air travel, do not rely on the Covid requirements at the time you made your reservation. I recommend double-checking just to make sure you will be allowed to board the plane and visit your destination.
