Jalisco Takes Boxing in the Conade Nationals

The Jalisco boxing team had a productive day in the semifinals earlier this week in the 2021 Conade Nationals, after putting 11 fighters in the finals of both categories.

In the morning shift, corresponding to the Juniors category, Erick Torres beat José Armando Juárez, from San Luis Potosí, in a 44-46 kg division. Pedro Valadez defeated Leonardo Diaz from Morelos at light flyweight. Cristian Hernández did the same with Kevin Carreón from Nuevo León in light welterweight, as did Carlos Regla with the Poblano Mauricio de Luna in light welterweight. 

In the afternoon, the Youth category matches were played, where the Jalisco team increased its presence in the finals. At bantamweight, Ulises Briseño beat Miguel Mendez, from Baja California, while Ulises Morales beat Figo Ramírez, from the Institute for Mexicans Abroad. In addition, Noli Valenzuela took the victory against the Mexican Antonio Flores in lightweight. 

As for the ladies, Naomi Valdovinos took the victory against Gloria Castillo, from Quintana Roo, in a welterweight duel. Another victory for Jalisco was Margarita Murguía, who defeated Fátima Herrera from Jalisco in a flyweight fight. Gema Morales won against Alondra Luis from Oaxaca, in the light welterweight division. This division will have a Jalisco monarch, as the other semifinal was won by Karen Rubio, with Juana Ramírez from Guanajuato as the victim. 

The boxing activity culminated with the finals on Wednesday, and the Jalisco team won five gold medals in this discipline, more than any other state, after a day full of spectacular fights in the Junior and Youth categories. 

In the Junior category (15-16 years old,) Erick Torres beat Diego Vázquez, from Quintana Roo, to take gold in the 44-46 kilogram division. Then, Pedro Valadez, defeated Arturo Humildad, from Aguascalientes in the light fly division. 

The other three golds came in the Youth category (17-18 years old.) The first of them went to Ulises Morales, who beat Asbel Bolaina, from Quintana Roo, in the flyweight division. Ulises Briseño was also proclaimed champion after beating Zacatecan Alexis Oliva in the bantamweight division. Finally, Karen Dayana Rubio defeated Gema Morales in a teammate duel after three rousing rounds in the light welterweight division. 

In addition, the Jalisco delegation hung another five silver medals, courtesy of Cristian Hernández in light welterweight (Junior,) Carlos Regla in light medium (Junior,) Noli Valenzuela in light (Youth,) Margarita Murguía in fly (Youth,) and Naomi Valdovinos in welterweight (Youth.) 

At the end of the day, Jalisco obtained five gold medals, four from the State of Mexico and three from Nuevo León.
