Air Passenger Potential from US to Mexico Increases 204% This Summer

Based on data from the Official Airline Guide (OAG), the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, reported that for the summer season of this year

there is an availability of  3,574,000 seats scheduled on routes from the United States to Mexico, which represents 2,399,000 seats more than in the same period of 2020, equivalent to an increase of 204.1%.

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced the above based on data from the Official Airline Guide.

He specified that the airlines that will offer the most seats will be Aeroméxico, Volaris, Delta, and United Airlines. 

The head of the Ministry of Tourism specified that for next summer, which covers the months of July and August, 1,396,454 scheduled seats are scheduled on Mexican airlines with American Union routes to a Mexican destination, a figure 155.9% higher than the same period of 2020. 

The national airlines that present a greater offer of seats, with routes from the United States to our country, are Aeroméxico with 54.9% of the total, 766,482 seats; Volaris with 33.7% offering 471,128 seats; and Viva Aerobús with 11.4% offering 158,844 seats. 

Likewise, the information from the OAG indicates that in the aforementioned period, the offer of scheduled seats on US airlines with routes to Mexico totals 2,178,000 seats which is 245.9% more than in the same period of last year, with a increase of 1,548,000 seats. 

Secretary Torruco Marqués pointed out that, according to this OAG report, the airlines in the United States that have the greatest offer of seats on their routes to Mexico are Delta Airlines, with 748,177, which is equivalent to 34.4% of the total, and United Airlines, with 676,118 seats, which is 31% of the total available for summer 2021. 

Other airlines are Southwest Airlines, with 234,806 seats; Spirit Airlines, with 176,556; JetBlue, with 157,358; Alaska Airlines, with 140,530; and Sun Country Airlines, with 44,268 scheduled seats.
