Over a Year Since the Health Crisis, Vallarta in Full Economic and Tourist Recovery

The destination is experiencing a process of responsible reactivation with the collaboration of all sectors, explained the acting mayor Jorge Quintero.

More than a year and a half after the health crisis caused by Covid-19, Puerto Vallarta is on its feet and in full economic and tourist recovery, said interim municipal president Jorge Quintero Alvarado, in his recent activity report.

He indicated that in 2020, the pandemic stopped in its tracks the growth that the destination maintained at the state level and surprisingly placed it in a scenario of low tourist occupancy, business closures, and job losses.

He said that after a year of providing all kinds of support to citizens affected by this contingency, the municipal health table was implemented with private initiative and civil society, to reinforce health actions and the tranquility of visitors.

Quintero Alvarado recalled that since 2015, Puerto Vallarta lived one of the best moments in its history and this government focused on helping to create the conditions to continue growing.

This made it possible to achieve historical figures in private investment and the arrival of national and international tourism with occupations up to 100%, with more employment and a better quality of life for families.

Vallarta was ranked as the destination with the highest arrival of international tourism, one of the ports with the highest arrival of cruise ships, the most important tourist destination in Jalisco, and the second in Mexico. The government of Jalisco has assumed the commitment to continue working every day to have a clean, safe, and orderly city with better services.

Some of the improvements made are the Boca de Tomatlán boardwalk being built, and the scenic lighting for the Puerto Vallarta boardwalk installed, the lighting of the entrance avenue was renewed, the entrance face to Puerto Vallarta and the certification of the different beaches was promoted, in addition to bringing tourist services more available and promoting sporting and cultural events for tourism promotion.

He said that today Puerto Vallarta is experiencing a process of responsible reactivation with the collaboration of all sectors of society. “Puerto Vallarta is on its feet and moving on; we invite everyone to come and visit us.”
