The Jalisco Health Secretariat (JHS) will launch the Strategy of Itinerant Modules to carry out antigen tests, which will allow finding suspected cases of SARS-CoV-2, in order to isolate them, give them care, and cut the chain of contagions of the new coronavirus.

From Monday, August 23 to Friday, August 27, the itinerant modules will visit 21 municipalities in various regions of Jalisco.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jalisco has been a national benchmark for implementing various strategies that today confirm that we are on the right path. Performing a large number of tests to detect the new coronavirus has allowed identifying affected people in a timely manner and cutting the chain of transmission.

The tests that will be applied in the 21 municipalities have been validated both by the Federation, the JHS, and by the University Center of Health Sciences (UCHS) of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), demonstrating a specificity of 99.4% and sensitivity of the 93.3%.

The taking of the tests is aimed at people with respiratory symptoms, such as fever, headache, malaise, cough, chest pain, sore throat and/or runny nose. They will begin to be applied, starting at 8:00 am with the support of the municipal governments involved, which will disseminate them in their territories.

The antigen test allows the identification of a protein known as "S" or spike of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and the results are obtained in 15 to 30 minutes.

The itinerant modules will visit municipalities in the following regions: Southern Region, municipalities of Gómez Farías, Sayula, Tonila and Ciudad Guzmán.
