This Year Jalisco Cultural Festival Will Promote the Houses of Culture Online

The 2021 Jalisco Cultural Festival will be held by the municipal houses of culture in an online format that will present content from various disciplines, and will allow it to be the framework of a contest,

where the winners will receive resources for the benefit of artistic groups and of these cultural venues.

The Jalisco Online Cultural Festival will be the platform to activate artistic activities in 122 municipalities where the workshops program of the Jalisco Ministry of Culture(SC) operates. Through virtual channels, the artistic groups formed in these workshops will resume the activities within the framework of this festival of culture.

The online program will be fed with mainly audiovisual productions from the disciplines of music (mariachi), dance (folk), literature (short story), theater (monologue and sketch) and plastic arts (drawing and painting). These same categories will be recognized with the first three places in the contest. All presentations will be broadcast live on the social networks of the Jalisco Ministry of Culture, where interviews with different key figures of each municipality will also be published, to learn about their traditions.

The groups must show what they have learned in the workshops of the houses of culture, and will compete to win a prize.

The first place will be 120,000 pesos. The Ministry of Culture of Jalisco allocated a total purse for this festival and the contest of 2 million pesos.

The Jalisco Online Cultural Festival will be held in July and August, and the SC has already published the call for artistic groups to register through the houses of culture. When generating the registry, the municipality agrees with the group to support what is necessary to have a quality virtual presentation. For the contest, the jury will be made up of specialists from each of the categories.

The Ministry of Culture of Jalisco allocates these economic resources to strengthen the human resources of these houses: on the one hand, it encourages the students of the workshops who, for a year due to the COVID 19 pandemic, suspended their activities. On the other hand, it supports the workshops of these houses that were closed.

They may also implement different projects to improve their spaces. The best-consolidated projects will access in-kind support to mainly strengthen the infrastructure of the campuses.

The SC thanks the allies who will make this festival and the contest possible, such as the municipal authorities, the directors of the houses of culture of 122 municipalities, the workshop leaders of each of these, the students, mothers and fathers, and the State Council for Culture and the Arts.
