The Festival of Monologues "One Voice Theater" Returns to Jalisco

The sixteenth edition of the Festival of Monologues "Teatro a Sola Voz," presented in different states of the country, will stop in Jalisco to present seven performances in Guadalajara and Lagos de Moreno.

The festival comes to the state from July 21 to July 29, thanks to the joint work between the Ministry of Culture of Jalisco (SC) through the Head of Theater and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL.)

Claudia Reyes Toledo, Director of Cultural and Artistic Development of the SC, commented that this festival is much loved in the state and that this time it comes when the cultural activities return to face-to-face spaces. "It is for that reason that with a particular impetus we manage to make cultural spaces safe, so that people can enjoy the shows, but also to help us maintain them."

The montages "Executor 14," "30 + 1 (Play for an Actress and a Radio,)" "Silly," "There's no home like place," "Wilma," "Nana," and "Camille Claudel," which will present at the Alarife Martín Casillas Theater, the Art and Culture Forum, the Agora of the Ex Convento del Carmen, and the Rosas Moreno Theater, in Lagos de Moreno. They were selected through the 2020 call, a year in which due to the pandemic the festival could not take place.

Daniel Miranda Cano, INBAL National Theater Coordinator, also celebrated the return of the public to the spaces and underlined “the inter-institutional alliance between the bodies that are dedicated to the promotion of culture and the arts, that must be celebrated, strengthened, replicated, and maintained for the sake of a program like this, which generates an impact at the national level in the formation of audiences, and which allows companies to show a work, an aesthetic discourse, and poetic discourse, which is so necessary.”

Hugo Acosta, Director of Culture of Lagos de Moreno, recalled that this municipality has a very important theater movement and this festival has become part of the summer cultural program of Lagos de Moreno. "It is very useful for us to know how we are going to face this new reality. We have to redouble our efforts to reactivate not only the part of the artists, but also that of the public, so that people go to the theater again."

The circuit begins in Jalisco on July 21, at 8:00 p.m., with the presentation of the play "Executor 14" at the Teatro Alarife Martín Casillas. Two days later, this same work will be in Lagos de Moreno and thus the program will continue with a daily work in each city until July 27 in Guadalajara and July 29 in the Alteño municipality.

The complete program can be found on the website of the Ministry of Culture at:
