Tacos to Steaks and Even a Full Bar at La Parilla de Villa

Tacos to Steaks and Even a Full Bar at La Parilla de Villa

Today we went to bar-grill restaurant with amazing food and a great ambiance.

Hello, again. My dad and I, and sometimes my mom comes along too, have been going out on the town to find some of the best not so well known cheap eats, mostly family-owned, restaurants that we can find. We go out almost every day, finding some new little place, or big place, to tell you about and review the food and prices.

A while ago one of my friends went to a restaurant, La Parilla de Villa, which is located on Brasil 204 in La Vena, and he really liked it, so he ended up recommending it to me. Today I wanted to go to it, so I told my dad about it and he said that many years ago he went to the same place and it was horrible, but we could try it again. And, we did! We also found out why my dad didn’t like it before, but is great now!

The restaurant has been open for a total of around 13 years, and also had other restaurants in Fluvial and Nuevo Vallarta. But, at that time there was a different owner, as well as different chefs and different recipes. Though about 4 years ago a new owner took over, he closed the restaurant in Nuevo, moved from Fluvial to La Vena, hired new employees, and found better recipes. So even though it appears to be the same restaurant, it’s so much better in multiple ways!

Before you get the food that you ordered you get a complementary bowl of ranchero beans, which are basically just beans in their broth, home made tostadas, and four salsas. One was a molcajete sauce, one was pure serrano pepper, another was chile de arbol with vinegar, and the last one was a simple guacamole sauce. My dad, of course, had to try all of them, and made me try them too. I won’t lie, they we’re all pretty good! Normally I’m not a fan of chile de arbol, but I liked this sauce! And, when my food came, which was an asada pellizcada, I put a whole bunch of it on! The pellizcada had a very thick and dough-y gordita-like base, but it was also very different. It was very thick and way too much dough for me, so I personally wasn’t fond of it, but I’m sure some people would love it, and I won’t say it was bad. The meat was delicious! It wasn’t super tender, but it had great flavor! And it went great with the chile de arbol sauce and guacamole.

My dad got an arriero quesadilla, which had asada, steak, chorizo, and, obviously, cheese! It was super big, and was stuffed full. It was actually too full, and my dad was able to make three tostadas out of the fillings before the arriero was a normal size. Then he continued to eat over half of it! I have no idea how he eats so much. Well, actually I might have an idea. The food was so good! It’s hard to stop! Not only the perfectly cooked and seasoned meats in his arriero, but also the hand made corn tortilla! It was all so delicious!

But, La Parilla de Villa doesn’t only serve great food; everything about it is great! Everyone is so nice, and the vibe of the place is amazing! There are also really cool decorations all over the place. Many old beer kegs were re-used as pots, chairs, light shades, and even just hanging on the wall. It’s definitely a must go-to restaurant. And, if you have young kids, that’s great, because there is a little kid play area!
